Upcoming Workshops for Coaches

The Art and Science of In-Person Coaching

Studies in the area of communication consistently show that conservatively, 55% of what we communicate is non verbal.  Considering that the majority of coaching and coach training are conducted over the telephone, this raises the obvious question of what important information coaches are missing from their clients iif limited to auditory communication alone.  Add to this, the research results provided by the ICF (International Coach Federation), published in 2004, which showed that over 67% of coaching clients preferred in-person coaching verses phone coaching.  Together these studies indicate that not only would coaches increase the quantity of information they receive from their client by in-person coaching, but that client satisfaction would increase as well.

Using the results of the above research, his workshop will coaches’ comfort, knowledge and skill when providing face to face or in-person coaching.  Areas to be explored will include multiple aspects of non verbal communication including; gestures, facial expression, touch, vocal variations, physical appearance and coaching space.  Through experiential practice, participants in this session will have the opportunity to role play various aspects of in-person coaching and increase their knowledge and comfort with this style of coaching.  Along with handouts, additional tools and resources will be available for participants to pursue further interest in this area.
